Privacy policy

openED (“we”, “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

What we collect

  • Account information: your email address and display name, provided when you sign up.
  • Course activity: which courses you are enrolled in, your progress through lessons, and which steps you have completed.
  • Payment information: purchases made on the iOS app are processed by Apple through In-App Purchase. We do not store your credit card number or full payment details. We do store a record of each transaction (amount, course, timestamp) for accounting and receipt purposes.
  • Creator profile: if you apply to teach, we collect your name, area of expertise, bio, credentials, and website URL.

How we use it

  • To create and manage your account.
  • To track your course progress and display it back to you.
  • To process course purchases through Apple In-App Purchase on iOS.
  • To send transactional emails (account verification, password resets). We do not send marketing emails unless you opt in.
  • To display your profile information on course pages (creators only).

Third-party services

We use the following third-party services to operate the platform:

  • Supabase — authentication and database hosting. Your account data is stored on Supabase infrastructure.
  • Apple In-App Purchase — used for all purchases made in the iOS app. Apple's privacy policy governs how they handle payment data.
  • Vercel — application hosting. Page requests are routed through Vercel's infrastructure.

We do not sell your data to any third party.

Data retention

Your account data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you wish to delete your account and all associated data, contact us at support@openeducation.io and we will process your request within 30 days.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of your account and data.
  • Export your data in a portable format.

Your data, your callIf you want your data exported or permanently erased outside of the in-app controls, email us and we'll handle it within 30 days.
